SHRESHTA Scheme 2022: Online Registration, Benefits & Selection Process

The government has approved a new scheme named SHRESHTA (Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas) for the purpose of providing seats for the meritorious SC boys and girls in the best private residential schools in the country. Every year, it is expected that about (3000) students would be selected for admission in Class 9 and Class 11 under the scheme.


SHRESHTA Scheme 2022: Online Registration, Benefits & Selection Process

The objective of the Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) is as follows:

To enhance the reach of the development initiative of the government.

To fill the gap in service-deprived Scheduled Castes (SCs) dominant areas in the sector of education by collaborating with voluntary organizations.

To provide an environment for socio-economic upliftment and overall development of the Scheduled Castes (SCs).

To provide access to high-quality education to bright Scheduled Caste (SC) students so that they can explore future opportunities.

Important Details:

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched the scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Classes in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA (NETS))-2022. The last date to apply for NETS 2022 exams is April 12.

Selection Criteria:

As per the official information, students will be shortlisted for SHRESHTA 2022 once they clear NETS 2022.NTA will be conducting NTA 2022 on May 7, 2022.

Important Documents:

Students applying for NETS 2022 will be required to submit a set of details and documents like name, date of birth, educational certificates, photograph, signature, SC Certificate / Undertaking, Income Certificate as applicable.

Eligibility Criteria For Students:

Applicant must be permanent resident of India

Student must belong to scheduled category

The applicant must qualify National entrance test

Eligibility Criteria For Schools

The school should be a Residential School affiliated to CBSE

School should be up to class 12th

The school should be in operation for at least 5 years

More than 75% students should be passed in class 10th and 12th board examination in last 5 years

Caste certificate

Income certificate

Ration card

Birth certificate

Passport size photograph

Mobile number

Email id etc
