ఒక అడవిలో ఒక నక్క ఉండేది. రోజూ వేటాడి తెచ్చుకున్న మాంసం ఇంటికి వచ్చి తినేది. అలా ఒక రోజు మాంసం తింటూ ఉండగా ఒక ఎముక తన గొంతులో ఇరుక్కుంటుంది. ఆ బాధ భరించలేక నక్క అడవంతా పరుగులు తీస్తూ ‘నా గొంతులో ఉన్న ఎముక ఎవరైనా తీస్తే వారికి నేను మంచి బహుమానం ఇస్తాను’ అంటుంది.
అక్కడే ఉన్న చిలుక, కాకి నక్క మాటలు వినకుండా అక్కడి నుండి వెళ్ళిపోతాయి. అక్కడ ఉన్న ఎవ్వరూ నక్కకు సహాయం చేయుటకు ముందుకు రారు. నక్క నొప్పితో బాధపడుతూ ఉండగా అటు వైపు వెళ్తున్న ఒక కొంగ నక్క బాధను గమనిస్తుంది.
‘సరే నేను నీకు సహాయం చేస్తాను కాని నువ్వు బహుమానం ముందే ఇవ్వాలి’ అంటుంది. నక్క ‘లేదు ఇచ్చిన తర్వాత నువ్వు ఎగిరిపోతే నేను ఏమి చేసేది కావున ముందు నా గొంతులో ఉన్న ఎముక తీస్తే నీకు బహుమానం ఇస్తాను’ అంటుంది.
‘సరే’ అని కొంగ నక్క గొంతులోకి తన పొడవాటి నోరు పెట్టి ఎముకని తీసేస్తుంది. ‘సరే నా బహుమానం ఇస్తే నేను ఇంటికి వెళ్తాను’ అనగానే ‘ఏంటి ఇచ్చేది నీకు బహుమానం నీవు నా గొంతులో నీ నోరు పెట్టినప్పుడు నేను తినకుండా వదిలేశాను అంతా కన్నా గొప్ప బహుమానం ఏముంటుంది. నోరు మూసుకొని పోకపోతే నిన్ను ఇక్కడే నమిలి తినేస్తాను’ అని భయపెట్టిస్తుంది.
బెదిరిపోయిన కొంగ చేసేది లేక అక్కడి నుండి వెళ్ళిపోతుంది. కాని మనసులో ‘ఈరోజు నేను ఒకరి ప్రాణం కాపాడాను’ అని సంతోషపడుతుంది.
నీతి:- కావున ఎదుటి వ్యక్తీ ఎంతటి నీచుడైన ప్రాణాపాయ స్థితిలో ఉన్నప్పుడు కాపాడాలి అన్నది ఈ కథలోని నీతి.
Factors and multiples game
This board game encourages children to focus on both factors and multiples, and gives children a valuable chance to practice their multiplication tables.
What you need to play:
2 players
A hundred square (see printable resource pack)
2 pens (different colors)
How to play:
The first player chooses a number on the hundred square and crosses it out.
The next player chooses a second number to cross out in a different color. This number must be a factor or multiple of the first number.
Continue crossing out numbers, ensuring that each number crossed out is a factor or multiple of the previous number that has just been crossed out.
The first person who is unable to cross out a number loses and the other player earns one point.
The winner is the first player to use their multiplication tables to get to five points.
